What’s it about?

The purpose of the role is twofold (1) Management of the ISS IT team to ensure that ISS’ strategy and thought leadership is translated into solutions that are reliable, scalable, proven, workable and compelling for our clients. (2) To manage the deployment / migration and on-going service delivery of these solutions to clients.

Managing a cross functional team of xxx, plus c.xxx contractors

The CTO is accountable for:

Strategic and budgetary control for the development and execution of all IT related operations within the ISS business across the full application life cycle from Design (Architecture) to Build (Engineering) to Run (Live Clients).  3rd party relationship management  of our technical partners including but not limited to Infosys (Engineering), DXC (Data hosting) and Kognitio (Data processing) Service and Delivery – Ensuring that Product, IT and Service Delivery teams are aligned to deliver against ISS’ client needs and commercial requirements. P&L delivery within budget – Management of the operational cost structure of the team; the launch of new solutions and migrations to clients and product development costs.

Reporting to the President, ISS and a key member of the ISS Leadership team you be providing critical input into the running of the ISS Division and have the chance to truly shape the way in which this role will drive value, both through your team but also to the wider ISS organisation.

What you will be doing:

Principal Accountabilities:

Key Activities

1.  Overall

  • Develop and enable ISS’s Technology strategy
  • Orchestrate the execution of Engineering and Service excellence to protect existing client revenues and be an enabler for new revenue by way of product engineering and service enhancements to meet the needs of new clients.
  • Represent ISS as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for IT and data management in client sessions including but not limited to RFI, RFP’s, Sales Pitches, Joint Steering Boards and Operational Governance Forums.
  • Provide technical product expertise, guidance and direction to internal and external product, technical and business teams. Act as a facilitator (in conjunction with the ISS leadership team) to define and plan the long-term and short term product vision.
  • Design and formalise the engineering and production processes related to ISS’ product suite, determining costs, testing schedules and product release dates in accordance with the various stages of the product development lifecycle.
  • Design and formalise the execution though Product design and management, Engineering, Project delivery and Service delivery of ISS’ Products to clients
  • Delivery of high quality and engaging governance in both strategic and operational forums including board, senior internal business and client forums.
  • Optimise the organisational structure, across a team of direct and indirect reports which includes internal, external and strategic partner resources.

2.  Support of ISS Business

  • Assist the Business Development team as necessary in their efforts to renew and extend current clients and in the acquisition of new clients
  • Support President ISS in preparation of periodic reports and updates back to the Aimia business

3.  Engineering Leadership

  • Responsible for the full systems development life cycle management of ISS’ products.
  • Strategically and operationally set and establish the quality standard for engineering through the implementation of a rigorous project/program management methodology that allows for the execution of a well-defined and meticulous plan, continuously monitoring and controlling the quality of deliverables.
  • Identify, analyse and address complex business, technical and production issues, related to the ISS Products, providing guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams in order to resolve or address all issues directly.
  • Responsible for all SDLC activities, ensuring that all designing, coding, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support for application software is delivered on time and within budget. Make recommendations towards the development of new code or make recommendations regarding the reuse of existing code.
  • Establish a strategic strength around Testing services within Engineering to enable higher quality and accelerated Product Releases and Client Implementations.
  • Lead, Manage and oversee the delivery of timely product releases and monitor all testing and quality control initiatives in order to identify, resolve and mitigate potential technical or operational issues or bugs.

4. Service Management

  • Responsible for the Strategic design, definition and orchestration of the full Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Management functions for ISS’ products
  • Orchestrate the execution of the full ITIL Service Management functions for ISS’ products across the full technology deployment including Infrastructure, Integration and Application Services.
  • Provide 2nd,3rd and 4th line services (24/7) to ensure that all application services are available and performing to required levels during required hours of business operation.
  • Create and maintain all operational processes and procedures within the IT Service Management function that drive true root cause elimination and a problem & risk friendly culture.
  • Establish and drive a strong knowledge management capability that maximises the value of the 3rd and 4th line team by empowering the 1st and 2nd line teams.
  • Have ultimate responsibility for establishing customer centric monitoring, alerting and reporting from component level through to key business processes metrics.
  • Perform as expert consultant and partner with client IT and ISS commercial teams to seek true Voice of the Customer insight.
  • Champion quality, by being a strong partner to projects and performing as Expert Consultant to ensure applications, through an operational acceptance framework, are accepted into service to the agreed quality measures.
  • Responsible for the Security and Compliance posture of the live clients. Ensuring that Information Security controls are in place, on a risk assessed basis, and are consistent with the Information Security Policy.

5.  Product Development cost management

  • Responsible for all IT related costs, strategic and operation budgeting and capital equipment processes, driving cost efficiencies and quality improvement activities for the development organization.
  • That the costs of design, build, deployment and on-going deployment of our products and services are understood and reflected in appropriate pricing workbooks and commercials

6.  Internal & External Relationships

7.  Talent Management

  • Ensuring that the best talent is recruited and retained within your team in order to deliver against business plans
  • Ensure that your team has appropriate ongoing training and development to keep their skills at the forefront of the industry
  • Lead, develop and maintain a challenging and supportive team environment within Aimia, in which all other managers and staff can achieve their objectives and fulfil their responsibilities.
  • Management of direct reports and responsibility for spreading the company strategy and vision
  • Work to ensure that Aimia’s culture is active and nurtured in every working location

  • Experienced IT professional, used to working across cross-functional teams and with offshored 3rd party managed engineering teams.

  • Experience across a diverse retail and CPG customer base, ideally across different countries and cultures.  Experience leading insights, analytics and/or marketing function in a Retailer or an FMCG manufacturer, or a combination of CPG & continuous data agency experience, supplying retail analysis to food retailers / CPGs using both customer, ePOS and panel data (e.g.  Nielsen data etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with appropriate gravitas and professional approach to engage effectively with C-suite
  • Persuasive and engaging style to drive collaboration and compromise where appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Team player, working collaboratively to deliver the broader ISS and Aimia goals and vision
  • Confidence in dealing with all levels of managers and the ability to adapt your style accordingly
  • Driven by success, meeting targets and with a strong commercial ethos
  • Manage, motivate & develop direct and indirect reports.
